The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I am so late to this train! Where in the world have I been?
Of course, everybody talks about Elin Hilderbrand. Her covers are gorgeous and they always make me feel like I should be lounging on a beach somewhere sipping strawberry daquiris. But if the cover is good, what’s inside is even better.
I loved this book. It was a perfectly written thriller. Super enjoyable. Just enough complication, but not convoluted to the point that it’s difficult to follow. The characters were well differentiated and I felt a connection to them. And the Nantucket feel was spot on!
When everybody converges on Nantucket for the wedding of Celeste and Benji, the setting couldn’t be more perfect. Benji’s wealthy family has planned the wedding of the season and their day is set to be picture perfect. That is until the maid of honor washes up on the beach…. dead! Who killed her? How did she end up on the beach? Something sinister is at play and everybody has a secret to keep.
I couldn’t have guessed the ending of this book if I tried. I found myself constantly thinking about who the killer could be and why. And while my theories were all great, they weren’t correct. But, the ending that Elin Hilderbrand dreamed up was just perfect. I’m so happy I didn’t waste a ton of time on another thriller only to be disappointed at the end (that is the worst!).
I purchased Winter in Paradise, another Elin Hilderbrand book, as part of my Book of the Month subscription a few months ago and now I can’t wait to read it! She has gained a new fan in me!
Wonderful review!! So glad you loved this!! She is an amazing author.
